Rock and Roll Craft Show 4

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Rock and Roll Craft Show 4 and purchased my wares. I still have some ornaments left, though I think they were my biggest seller. If you would like to purchase an ornament shoot me an email and I we can talk. I hope to get some pics up soon, but our computer is still down and we are using the kids computer which is as ancient as they come and without a USB port. Ugh!

Strange Folk Rocked!

So our computer is down still and we are using the kids and it doesn't have a USB port (or whatever it's called) so I can't download pics of my newest wares. But I have alot of great stuff left over from Strange Folk.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support Strange Folk and bought my wares. It was a great day and the festival had a great crowd, both customers and vendors alike.

If you saw something at the festival you wanted to buy and you had already spent it on someone's else's kick ass wares, that's okay. Just contact me and I can let you know if I still have it or I can always make another one. No two pieces are ever alike though, no matter how hard I try.

I have lots of the Flower/Sugar Skull bobby pins and brooches/pins left. They are a great deal at only $6.00 and it's the right season for them too.

Thanks again to Autumn who made Strange Folk a kick ass time!

CraftaNostra rocked!

So we had a huge crowd last night for CraftaNostra. I sold mostly my crosses and flower/sugar skulls bobby pins, but I did sell a few other things. The crowd was definitely into my stuff, they just weren't buying. I think those selling jewelry, purses and baby things did the best. I will eventually venture into the Day of the Dead jewelry, but purses and baby things I don't think I will go into. I love what I make though, so I will continue to do what I love with the hopes that eventually someone will buy it.
I had fun talking with all of the Craft Mafia people and their spouses. What a great group of people! Thanks to April and anyone else that helped but together such a great show! Thanks also to April, Kate and Beqi for waiting for my "darling" husband. And a big hug to Beqi for taking me home! I owe you are coffee or drink at the least!!!!
I promise to get up pics of my newest stuff as soon as I get our other computer up and running.
A big hand to our DJ who rocked the house and Cooperella for hosting it!!!!!

Yay! I'm now a member of St. Louis Craft Mafia!

Yay! I got official word today that I am now a member of the St. Louis Craft Mafia and I am able to participate in the CraftaNostra. I am so very excited! I have tons to do though and that is a little overwhelming. Ugh! I am in the midst of trying to create inventory for the Strange Folk Festival and now CraftaNostra, then I am making two costumes for Dragoncon (big Sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, goth, etc. convention), looking for a part time job and taking care of my two school age kids. I love my kids, but man am I ready for school to start back up. Ugh!

I've got a lot of great pieces going now and have some great ones in mind. So, back to crafting, just wanted to share the great news!

Also, please check out my favorite links. I have added all of my fellow St. Louis Craft Mafia members and they are a very talented bunch.

Paper mache'ing away

So I am just paper mache'ing away. I am trying to build up pieces for the Strange Folk Festival > and possibly for CraftaNostra http://www:// > through the St. Louis Craft Mafia . I am waiting to hear back from the St. Louis Craft Mafia about my possible membership and I am quite excited and hope (very much) that I will get in. They are a talented bunch and I would love to be a part of that and really about helping to promote crafty businesses. We crafty bunch need to stick together! So check out the links and make sure to promote these great crafty ventures!

In the mean time I have made some great devil and skull maracas. They need paint and they will be done. Yay! I am also working on bottlecaps with tiny paper mache' skulls in them for jewelry. I will add glitter and seal them in resin. I am going to try to do the sugar skull designs on them, but they are quite small so that is not definite. I am putting together quite a few miscellaneous pieces, but I am lacking any real fun ideas. I need to go over my notes and sketch book. I know I have had some wornderful ideas I just can't seem to think of them right now. I am also trying a new approach on molds for some of my pieces and I am still unsure how they will work. I do have some really cute Halloween ideas in mind. One including a goth-like living dead girl, Wednesday Adams kind Day of the Dead girl. My maracas and Halloween stuff sold the best at the Rock and Roll Craft Show so I am trying to concentrate on more of those right now.

I also finished my paper mache' Shaak Ti headpiece. At least the restructuring of it . It will need a finishing coat of paper pulp and then paint, but it looks really good. I hope to get pictures up this week, but I seem to be quite busy so we will see.

Yay! Got into Strangefolk

So I got into the Strangefolk Festival and I am so excited. I have been so slowly making some pieces and researching on how I want to do my bottlecap jewelry. This is going to be fun and it's good for my soul to get creative. I always feel a little more connected to me when I am crafting. It's so easy to lose yourself when you become a wife and mother and crafting let's me hang on to who I was before.

So I have some wonderful ideas and have been cleaning and organizing my craft area downstairs. Ugh! That is so overwhelming. Trying to figure out how to categorize so of my stuff is just hard.

So I am going to focus on Halloween stuff because it will be right before Halloween and for the area the craft show is in I think that Halloween stuff will just sell better, but I am going to do alot of my Devil & Skull maracas. They sold well at the Rock and Roll craft show and I just like them anyway.

The pic up top is of a pair I sold at the Rock and Roll Craft Show. I am going to try and make the skeleton more 3D or at least give it more dimension.
Overall, excitement and crafting like crazy!

Just put in application for Strange Folk 2007

So I just sent in my application for Strange Folk 2007. I hope I am accepted. I was accepted last year and due to many personal issues I was not able to participate. I heard they did really well last year and it was a great success. I am very excited and after I finishing cleaning my kitchen I am going to get my craft supplies organized and start crafting. Even if I am not accepted that's okay, I need a jump start to get me crafting again. It' so hard being an artist as I want so much for people to like my work and I never feel it is good enough. It would be nice to get into the show as that would mean that someone like my work. Wish me luck!!!

Back to crafting

So I am really excited about going back to crafting. I had alot of personal issues going on and then I have been making some costumes for this years Dragoncon and now I am ready to start crafting again.

I have clay left over from one of my classes and found a great group of paper mache' artists who use paperpulp mixed with waterbased clay. I am very excited about trying this as I have had a real hard time coming up with a easy recipe for the paper pulp clay that I could use for all of the details on my pieces. So, I am going to try it this week and I will let you know how it goes.

I love my Dia de los Muertos Marie Antoniette so much and that little lovely sold on ebay last summer, but now I want to try a Napoleon Bonaparte. I love the traditional Dia de los Muertos pieces, but find doing these other pieces fun and they make me smile when I look at them and hopefully they make someone else smile or laugh too.
